Zij\u00a0was een Zeeuwse boerendochter. Haar moeder streed in de Christelijke Boeren en Tuindersbond voor vrouwenrechten in het boerenbedrijf. In navolging van haar moeder, had ook Ella een warm hart voor de \u2018zwakkeren\u2019 in de samenleving en kwam ze haar leven lang voor hen op. Eerst als vormingswerker voor werkende jongeren, later als bestuurder bij de vakbond FNV en bij de Partij van de Arbeid.<br \/><br \/>De term \u2018Vogelaarwijken\u2019 stamt uit 2007, toen zij als PvdA-minister van Wonen, Wijken en Integratie extra wilde investeren in een groot aantal Nederlandse achterstandswijken. Zelf had ze het over \u2018krachtwijken\u2019 en \u2018prachtwijken\u2019. Samen met haar partner Onno Bosma schreef zij over deze heftige periode &#8220;Twintig maanden knettergek: dagboek van een ministerschap&#8221; (2009).<br \/><br \/>In haar woonplaats Utrecht toonde Ella Vogelaar zich ook een sociaal bewogen vrouw. Ze was er jaren lang lid van de raad van commissarissen bij woningcorporatie Mitros. En van het Comit\u00e9 van Aanbeveling van Huize Agnes, het eerste opvanghuis voor vrouwen zonder geldige verblijfspapieren en hun kinderen in de stad. <br \/>Alle redenen om \u2018Stichting Ella Vogelaar\u2019 naar haar te vernoemen.<br \/><br \/>Ze verdient het herinnerd te worden.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wie was Ella Vogelaar?
